It would not be the Ranger Regiment without a Big 5. Transition is no different.
Meet with your Battalion's Transition counselor for your initial transition counseling 18 months before exiting the service.

Every Ranger receives an Individual Transition Plan from the Transition Counselors after completing their initial transition counseling session. This plan provides customized action items for a Ranger to attack transition.
Every Ranger receives 12 or more mentors based on career field interests and geographic relocation desires. Ranger mentors volunteer their time and expertise to expand a Ranger's network allowing the Ranger to validate his next career choice.
Every Ranger is automatically enrolled in Ranger Transition Training. RTT is a weekly one-hour virtual training session over the four biggest transition for Rangers:
1. Timeline and Networking
2. VA Benefits and Claims Submission
3. Employment from the Employer-side of the Desk
4. Financial Literacy
Submit a request for mentors from Three Ranger Foundation via their website's assistance link.
Job descriptions, resumes, and LinkedIn are tools to help you speak intelligently with professionals across all career fields. Check out the Tools of Transition during Week One of Ranger Transition Training.
The VA has three main objectives:
1. Claims Processessing
2. Health Care
3. Benefits
Learn more about each of these pillars of the VA with the VA Welcome Kit.
Every state contains state and federal VA offices. But, every state is different and health care and benefit offices are not always collocated. Know where you can go for help with disability, health care, and benefits assistance at the state and federal level.
Submitting an comprehensive initial VA Disability Claim starts with requesting medical records 12 months prior to separation from service and requires the identification of a certified Veteran Service Officer to submit your claim to the VA. Wounded Warrior Project provides comprehensive claims assistance for the initial and all follow up reviews.
